Defendership

Defendership

My story

All of Mrax must pay the price for moving the planet off its orbit.
Half alien Ky, adapting to life on his father’s world, is given two tasks:
The first, to delve into the uncharted history of a previous civilisation and unravel its mysteries.
The impossible second is to hunt down a creature that doesn’t exist, that nobody has ever heard of.
His best friend Fay’s nightmares warn of impending disaster. She has a nasty feeling that the outcome will depend on Ky. Worse still, when the Ancients decree everyone has to learn to smash rocks, she knows their very survival could depend upon it.
In a world of lethal monsters and a chaotic climate, can Ky fly with the squadron and meet those challenges in time to save everyone?

Writing has always been my sanctuary.  I wrote my first book when I was 14. It is still a treasured possession, though unlikely to be seen in public. When I wasn’t writing or drawing, I would spend hours immersed in books, spellbound by, amongst many others, Jules Verne, Isaac Asimov and Anne McCaffrey.

My studies, work and writing gave way to family and running a playgroup. Later I went back to my career as a legal and later medical PA. I always enjoyed making up stories for my children and everyone else.

When I had the chance, I joined a creative writing class, which I can highly recommend. It was like coming home and I never looked back. I have made many like-minded friends and had short stories published in magazines. My poetry has been put on public display, dramatised and turned into music. I have been  placed in many writing competitions.

I have written the first three of my children’s series with a fourth currently under way. I have also launched a Flagship Guide to Mrax to give readers a taster of life on the planet I have created. (It’s also a great guide to worldbuilding for aspiring authors).  I am also working on artwork to set in a book of Legends associated with the series.

I  run creative writing workshops for adults and imagination workshops (using my art) for children. I love to visit schools as often as I can and work with libraries.

I still read extensively when I can fit it in.  I enjoy Terry Pratchett, Dean Koontz and Robin Hobb and I also read children’s books, enjoying Rick Riordan, Philip Pullman, Michael Grant and Eoin Colfer. I see no reason why adults can’t enjoy them.  I still enjoy sci-fi fantasy adventures above all else.

I attend the Hampshire Writer’s Society and belong to the Alliance of Independent Authors. (If you would like to know more about this, please click the badge at the top). The writer’s family is a warm and welcoming one.

I am so lucky to have such a long-suffering and supportive husband (who puts up with me in my endless other worlds), my wonderful children whose belief in me keeps me going, and my growing circle of writing friends with all their support.

Finally, please understand that reviews are the lifeblood that keeps our books alive and the writers flourishing, so please bear that in mind with every book you read and leave a review!

If you can’t review where you find my books, please click on the moon to email me. I’d love to hear from you.
